| Sumario: | The objective was to evaluate visitors' perception of the landscape and environmental conditions of the Tarapacá Waterfront in Iquitos, an urban-riverine public space of historical and cultural importance. A cross-sectional descriptive design with a quantitative approach was used, applying a validated structured questionnaire (α=0.893) to 386 visitors selected through systematic probabilistic sampling. The instrument evaluated four dimensions: Aesthetics and Biodiversity, Safety and Lighting, Infrastructure and Heritage, and Cleanliness and Sustainability. Results revealed a predominantly negative perception, with critical means in all dimensions: Cleanliness and Sustainability (2.44), Aesthetics and Biodiversity (2.59), Safety and Lighting (2.66) and Infrastructure and Heritage (2.69), all below the neutral value of 3.0. Critical indicators stand out: 54.6% negatively perceive cleanliness, 51.5% consider the space visually unattractive, 47.4% negatively evaluate public lighting and 42% report deterioration in historic buildings. The visitor profile showed gender balance (44.6% female, 42% male), average age of 36.1 years and diverse composition (50% local, 30.1% national, 19.9% international). It is concluded that there is an integral deterioration of the waterfront that compromises its function as a citizen meeting space and tourist attraction, requiring urgent interventions for environmental recovery, infrastructure improvement and strengthening of citizen security. |
