Sumario:The general objective of this research was to carry out a diagnosis on the current situation of solid waste management, and its relationship with the environmental culture in the Nuevo Punchana Human Settlement of the Punchana District, to establish strategies that contribute to an efficient management of said waste . The methodology used is quantitative, nonexperimental design and the type of cross-sectional, prospective, descriptive research level. For the present study, the 400 families settled in the Nuevo Punchana Human Settlement were taken as the population, for the selection of the sample 24 families were selected at random, with 4 repetitions for each family, which was for convenience. The instruments used for the collection of data for the diagnosis of solid waste was an elaborated sheet and for the environmental culture it was through structured surveys and interviews. The results show that the management of solid waste is related to the environmental culture of the population, with respect to environmental culture, 54% of the families do not know the management of solid waste, the average behavior of the daily household waste generation by gender or category by family is 1.67 kg of usable waste, 0.62 kg unusable, 4.55 kg organic and 0.01 kg hazardous. Regarding the total generation according to daily per capita per family of solid waste, on average it is 6.75 kg, 1.015 kg / day, 30.45 kg / month and 365.4 / year.
