The present study was carried out in the facilities of the company INDUSTRIA FORESTAL IQUITOS S.R.L.,22 km from Iquitos in a south- west direction. In order to improve the industrial safety and risk System of the sawmill; the information was obtained through interviews with the person in charge of the plant to verify the point of the Peruvian standard and the OHSAS and verify what aspects they comply with or to what level they do it. From the obtained results, the dangers identified in the company are: inadequate conditioning and transfer of the logs; noise generation from the equipment and machinery, dust generation; inadequate conditioning and transfer of boards; liquid on contact with skin can cause poisoning. The risk assesment for the activities corresponding to: Entry of logs, main saw, edgin, blunting and preservation, show us a MEDIUM type of risk; in the other activities the type of risk obtained in the qualification is LOW. The prevention measures in the company are: staff training, permanente use of personal protection equipment (hearing protectors, gloves, oral nasal masks, aprons). Control measures are base don the development of Hazard identification and risk assessment in the production process on a regular basis (IPER).
