Maestría en Conservación de Recursos ForestalesEl estudio se desarrolló en la ciudad de Moyobamba en la región San Martín, donde se implementó el primer caso de Mecanismo de Retribución por Servicios Ecosistémicos Hídricos (MRSEH) en el Perú, financiado con tarifas de agua potable. El objetivo fue evaluar la gestión efectiva del MRSEH implementado por la EPS Moyobamba, en las nacientes y márgenes de los cursos de agua Rumiyacu, Mishquiyacu y Almendra. Para la evaluación se empleó la herramienta METT desarrollada por la alianza WWF/Banco Mundial y se aplicó para tres horizontes temporales, al inicio del MRSEH en el 2007, a la culminación del MRSEH en el 2014 y el estado del MRSEH al 2020. Los resultados muestran que el MRSEH ha contribuido a la conservación de los servicios ecosistémicos hídricos en la zona intervenida, siendo que los mayores logros ocurrieron en el periodo hasta el 2014, periodo en que se ejecutaron proyectos que buscaban garantizar la sostenibilidad del MRSEH y también se implementó el proyecto con fondos MRSEH, la gestión efectiva del MRSEH se vio reducida posteriormente, principalmente por falta de financiamiento para continuar con las acciones de conservación, no obstante, muchos de los procesos logrados se mantienen hasta el 2020.The study was carried out in the city of Moyobamba in the San Martín region, where the first case of Hydrological Ecosystem Services Compensation Mechanism (MRSEH by its Spanish acronym) in Peru was implemented, financed by water service tariffs. The objective was to evaluate the effective management of the MRSEH implemented by the EPS Moyobamba, in the headwaters and margins of the Rumiyacu, Mishquiyacu and Almendra watercourses. For the evaluation, the METT tool developed by the WWF/World Bank alliance was used and applied for three time horizons: at the beginning of the MRSEH in 2007, at the end of the MRSEH in 2014, and the state of the MRSEH in 2020. The results show that the MRSEH has contributed to the conservation of hydrological ecosystem services in the intervention area, with the greatest achievements occurring in the period up to 2014, a period in which projects were implemented to ensure the sustainability of the MRSEH and the project was also implemented with MRSEH funds.
