Departamento Académico de HorticulturaEl presente estudio evaluó cultivares de zanahoria, Daucus carota L., bajo condiciones de manejo agronómico convencional en un campo en el Valle de Reque, departamento de Lambayeque. Con el objetivo de evaluar el rendimiento y calidad como peso (g), longitud (cm), diámetro de hombro (cm), forma, color y color de hombro, contenido de sólidos solubles (°Bx), relación xilema/floema y materia seca (%). Se utilizó un diseño de bloques completamente al azar con cuatro cultivares de zanahoria (Yurico F1, Córdoba F1, Cesena F1 y Cod 3248 F1) y cuatro repeticiones, haciendo un total de 16 unidades experimentales. Los métodos estadísticos usados fueron ANOVA y prueba de comparación de medias de Duncan para los tratamientos con 0.05 de coeficiente de significancia. El experimento expone entre sus resultados diferencias significativas para la variable de rendimiento, el cultivar Cesena F1 (39.53 t/ha) presentó el mayor rendimiento comercial y menor porcentaje de descarte. El cultivar Yurico F1 destacó por su mayor peso (160.23 cm) y longitud de raíz (14.87 cm), mientras que Cod 3248 F1 presentó menor longitud (12.27 cm) y una forma más obtriangular, con mayor diámetro de hombro (4.84 cm). En cuanto al color, Cesena F1 obtuvo el mayor valor de a* y b*, indicando mejor apariencia. Respecto a los sólidos solubles, Yurico F1, Córdoba F1 y Cesena F1 superaron los 8 °Bx, lo que sugiere una buena calidad sensorial. En la relación xilema/floema, Cesena F1 presentó la mayor proporción (1.53), indicando una textura más fibrosa, mientras que Yurico F1 tuvo la menor (1.34), favoreciendo una textura más tierna. No se encontraron diferencias significativas en el porcentaje de materia seca entre cultivares.This study evaluated different cultivars of carrot (Daucus carota L.), in a field under conventional agronomic management conditions located in the Reque Valley, Lambayeque region. The objectives were to evaluate the yield and quality parameters such as weight (g), length (cm), shoulder diameter (cm), shape, color and shoulder color, root total soluble solids (°Bx), xylem/phloem ratio, and dry mass (%). The experimental design was a completely randomized block design with four carrot cultivars (Yurico F1, Córdoba F1, Cesena F1, and Cod 3248 F1) and four repetitions, making a total of 16 experimental units and the statistical methods used were ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test for mean comparison at a significance level of 0.05. The experiment revealed significant differences related to yield variables. The Cesena F1 cultivar (39.53 t/ha) showed the highest commercial yield and the lowest discard percentage. Yurico F1 stood out for having the highest weight (160.23 g) and root length (14.87 cm), whereas Cod 3248 F1 had the shortest length (12.27 cm) and a more obtusely triangular shape, with the largest shoulder diameter (4.84 cm). In terms of color, Cesena F1 obtained the highest a* and b* values, showing a better appearance. Regarding soluble solids, Yurico F1, Córdoba F1, and Cesena F1 all exceeded 8 °Bx, suggesting good sensory quality. For the xylem/phloem ratio, Cesena F1 had the highest proportion (1.53), indicating a more fibrous texture, while Yurico F1 had the lowest (1.34), promoting a tenderer texture.
