Departamento Académico de NutriciónEl estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar la digestibilidad aparente y estimar la energía digestible de las hojas de moringa (Moringa oleífera) a través de ensayos de digestibilidad in vivo en 10 cuyes machos mejorados tipo 1 de la granja de Cieneguilla de la UNALM con peso promedio de 650 g colocados de forma aleatoria en jaulas metabólicas. El estudio se llevó a cabo en dos partes una fase de pre-experimentación (25 días) y la fase experimental de colección de heces (5 heces), se suministraron dos dietas, una basal compuesta por 100 por ciento de subproducto de trigo suministrado a cinco cuyes y una dieta experimental compuesta por 40 por ciento de harina de hojas de moringa y 60 por ciento de dieta basal suministrado a los otros cinco cuyes. Los coeficientes de digestibilidad y la energía digestible de la harina de hojas de moringa se determinaron a partir del método indirecto con resultados en base seca, considerando como dieta basal el subproducto de trigo. Los coeficientes de digestibilidad de la harina de hojas de moringa determinados para cada nutriente son: 71.15 por ciento de materia seca, 69.95 por ciento de materia orgánica, 78.53 por ciento de proteína total, 81.91 por ciento de extracto etéreo, 80.81 por ciento de fibra cruda, 65.50 por ciento de ceniza y 65.29 por ciento de extracto libre de nitrógeno, además se estimó el valor de la energía digestible de la harina de hojas de moringa que es de 3.49 kcal/g.The study aimed to determine the apparent digestibility and estimate the digestible energy of moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera) through in vivo digestibility tests in 10 improved type 1 male guinea pigs from the Cieneguilla farm of UNALM with an average weight of 650 g randomly placed in metabolic cages. The study was carried out in two parts, a preexperimentation phase (25 days) and the experimental phase of feces collection (5 feces), two diets were provided, a basal diet composed of 100 percent wheat by-product supplied to five guinea pigs and an experimental diet composed of 40 percent moringa leaf flour and 60 percent basal diet supplied to the other five guinea pigs. The digestibility coefficients and digestible energy of moringa leaf flour were determined using the indirect method with results on a dry basis, considering wheat by-products as the basal diet. The digestibility coefficients of moringa leaf flour determined for each nutrient are: 71.15 percent dry matter, 69.95 percent organic matter, 78.53 percent total protein, 81.91 percent ether extract, 80.81 percent crude fiber, 65.50 percent ash, and 65.29 percent nitrogen-free extract.
