Se desconocen el grado, los contaminantes, los efectos y las medidas que se podría adoptar. Por ello, en el presente estudio se evaluó los niveles de Monóxido de Carbono (CO) en los ambientes del estacionamiento subterráneo Rivera Navarrete (San Isidro, Lima) y se estimó su relación con el porcentaje de carboxihemoglobina (%COHb) en la sangre de las personas. El estudio fue realizado en los interiores del estacionamiento los cuales están distribuidos en 3 sótanos, seccionados en 5 puntos de registro para el primer y segundo sótano, y 3 puntos en tercero. Se obtuvo valor promedio cada 5 min durante los días y las horas (7:30 a 22:00 horas) de mayor afluencia vehicular. Para las mediciones de CO se utilizó un analizador de gases Modelo AQ-PRO. Serie 14105 y para la estimación de la carboxihemoglobina se empleó un método matemático (Coburn, et al, 1965). Los resultados obtenidos indican la presencia de altos niveles de monóxido de carbono; sin embargo, estos niveles permanecen por debajo de normas y guías la mayoría de tiempo, excepto para el segundo sótano (sobrepasa los límites de 10 ppm de la guía de la OMS de 15 min y EPA de 1 hora). Se registraron concentraciones promedio de monóxido de carbono en el primer sótano de 8,93 ppm y valores de carboxihemoglobina de 0,52%COHb; en el segundo sótano, 13,76 ppm y 0,53%COHb; y el tercer sótano, 3,69 ppm y 0,51%COHb, respectivamente. Los horarios de mayor concentración para el primero y segundo sótano oscilan entre las 17:00 a 18:00 horas, intervalo de tiempo en el cual se debe optar medidas con el fin de proteger la salud de los usuarios.The investigations concerning the levels of air quality in vehicle parking lots are very scarce, the degree, the pollutants, the effects and the measures that could be adopted are unknown. For this reason, in the present study the levels of Carbon Monoxide (CO) in the environments of the underground parking lot Rivera Navarrete (San Isidro, Lima) were evaluated and their relationship with the percentage of carboxyhemoglobin (%COHb) in the blood of people. The study was conducted in the interiors of the parking lot, distributed in 3 basements, sectioned into 5 registration points for the first and second basement and 3 points in the third basement, average value was obtained every 5 min, during the days and hours (7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.) higher vehicular influx. For CO measurements, a Model AQ-PRO gas analyzer was used. Series 14105 and for the estimation of carboxyhemoglobin a mathematical method was used (Coburn et al, 1965). The results obtained indicate the presence of high levels of carbon monoxide, however, these levels remain below standards and guidelines most of the time, except for the second basement (it exceeds the limits of 10 ppm of the WHO guide for 15min and EPA of 1 hour). Average concentrations of carbon monoxide were recorded in the first basement of 8.93 ppm and carboxyhemoglobin values of 0.52%COHb, in the second basement 13.76 ppm and 0.53%COHb and the third basement 3.69 ppm. and 0.51%COHb respectively.
