Esto genera un desafío adicional en la formación del ingeniero agrícola de la UNALM, cuyo ambiento de trabajo lo lleva a desarrollar proyectos en zonas rurales con una reducida cobertura de energía eléctrica. Frente a este reto, en el 2006 se crea el Laboratorio de Energías Renovables (LER), cuyo objetivo contribuir al perfil profesional del Ingeniero Agrícola en lo teórico, practico y ético en áreas relacionadas al aprovechamiento eficiente de alternativas energéticas naturales y su contribución en el sector agropecuario como fuente de calor, electricidad y fuerza motriz. El presente Trabajo de Suficiencia Profesional (TSP) sintetiza el trabajo desarrollado en el Laboratorio de Energías Renovables (LER) de la Facultad de Ingeniería Agrícola de la UNALM y describe cómo estas actividades han contribuido a las competencias específicas y generales del perfil del egresado de la carrera del ingeniero agrícola. Para ello, se hace un recuento de las actividades académicas, como el apoyo en el dictado de cursos, a nivel de pregrado y posgrado, actividades de investigación, apoyando el desarrollo de tesis y publicaciones científicas, además de Círculos de Investigación, labores de responsabilidad social y extensión social universitaria en áreas relacionadas al aprovechamiento de las fuentes renovables para la generación de energía. Los resultados muestran que el LER ha contribuido a la formación del Ingeniero Agrícola, proporcionándole los conocimientos, habilidades, y oportunidades para desarrollar prácticas sostenibles con soluciones innovadoras dentro del contexto de la crisis ambiental y energética actual.Peru is one of the countries in the region more affected by the climate change impacts from the energy, social, economic and environmental point of view. This creates an additional challenge in the education of the students of agricultural engineering at the UNALM, whose work environment leads them to develop projects in the rural areas with reduced coverage of electrical energy. Faced with this challenge, in 2006 the Renewable Energy Laboratory (LER) was created, whose objective was to contribute with the professional profile of the Agricultural Engineer in the theory, practice and ethics in areas related to the efficient use of the natural energy sources, and its contribution in the agricultural sector as a source of heat, electricity, and mechanical energy. This Professional Sufficiency Work (TSP) synthesizes the work developed by the Renewable Energy Laboratory (LER) of the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering at the UNALM, and describes how these activities have contributed on the specific and general competencies of the graduates’ profile of the career of agricultural engineering. In order to achieve this, it is performed an academic count of its activities, like the support in the teaching of courses at graduate and undergraduate level, investigation activities, support in the development of thesis and publication activities, support on students circles of investigation, and with social and extension responsibility tasks in the areas related to the use of renewable sources for energy generation.
