Departamento Académico de NutriciónEl presente estudio se llevó a cabo sobre Apis mellifera en el apiario de la Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina (UNALM) con el objetivo de determinar el efecto del azúcar impalpable sobre el número de varroas capturadas en trampa de piso y el porcentaje o tasa de infestación de varroa en abejas adultas (TIVA), en el periodo de octubre a diciembre del 2017. Se empleó 20 colmenas en cámara de cría provistas de trampa de varroa: 10 colmenas con tratamiento experimental a base de 100 g de azúcar impalpable por colmena y 10 colmenas control, sin tratamiento. El azúcar impalpable fue aplicado en espolvoreo en tres oportunidades por colmena, una por mes. Antes de la aplicación del azúcar se tomaron muestras de abejas adultas de cada colmena para determinar la TIVA. El conteo de varroas capturadas en trampa se realizó 24 horas después de cada aplicación del azúcar. También se determinó el número de abejas adultas, el número de panales de cría y el número de panales de reserva alimenticia, por colmena. Los datos fueron analizados mediante las pruebas t de Student y de Mann Whitney. El número de varroas capturadas por colmena como promedio total fue de 174,4 y 96,5 varroas en colmenas tratadas y no tratadas, respectivamente, con diferencias significativas entre tratamientos. La TIVA fue de 6,108% y 4,972% en colmenas tratadas y no tratadas, sin diferencias significativas. Los resultados demuestran que el azúcar impalpable, aplicado en espolvoreo en las colmenas, tuvo efecto en el desprendimiento de los ácaros del cuerpo de las abejas adultas, su posterior caída y captura en trampas; sin embargo, no influyó en la TIVA. El azúcar impalpable no tuvo efecto en el número de abejas adultas, número de panales de cría y número de panales de reserva alimenticia por colmena, no habiéndose observado en dichas variables diferencias significativas entre colmenas tratadas y sin tratamiento.
