Departamento Académico de Manejo ForestalEl Santuario Nacional Pampa Hermosa (SNPH) protege una muestra de la biodiversidad de los ecosistemas de Yungas Peruanas y alberga ensambles de aves del Área Natural Protegida (ANP) y su Zona de Amortiguamiento (ZA). Este estudio evaluó la composición y estructura de los ensambles de aves en 18 unidades de muestreo distribuidos en tres sectores: Pampa de Cedros (PC), Pampa de Prumnopitys (PP) y ZA, con los siguientes objetivos: (1) Conocer y comparar la composición y estructura de los ensambles de aves entre los sectores mencionados; (2) Compararla con la avifauna reportada en la Concesión para la Conservación del Bosque Puyusacha, cercana al SNPH; e (3) Identificar las especies amenazadas y/o endémicas del área de estudio. Los índices de diversidad de Shannon (H) y Simpson (1-D) mostraron que los ensambles de aves en los sectores dentro del SNPH fueron los más diversos, H = 3,28 (PC) y 3,10 (PP), con una distribución de especies más equitativa, 1-D= 0,96 (PC) y 0,94 (PP), en comparación con la comunidad de la ZA (H=2,54 y D=0,89). El análisis de ordenamiento NMDS mostró que la ZA presenta una composición de aves diferente a los sectores PC y PP. Asimismo, se encontraron semejanzas en los órdenes y familias reportados en Puyusacha, pero solo 18 especies en común. Se identificaron 10 especies amenazadas y/o endémicas, 3 de las cuales estuvieron presentes también en Puyusacha; sin embargo, las especies en estado vulnerable solo estuvieron presentes en el SNPH. La pava negra, una especie amenazada por su valor cinegético, encontró refugio en el SNPH. Estos resultados confirman que el valor del SNPH conserva los relictos de bosques de cedro y los ensambles de aves, cuyas especies amenazadas y/o endémicas pueden ser indicadores de eficiencia en las estrategias de conservación y manejo en el ANP.The Pampa Hermosa National Sanctuary (SNPH) protects a sample of the biodiversity of the Peruvian Yungas ecosystems and is home to bird assemblages, both within the Natural Protected Area (ANP) and its Buffer Zone (ZA). The black guan, a species threatened for its hunting value, is reportedly finding a refuge in the SNPH.
