Departamento Académico de HorticulturaLa producción de hortalizas en nuestro país depende esencialmente del riego, en el caso del tomate, la producción nacional se realiza tanto en sistemas tradicionales (gravedad) como en sistemas automatizados (goteo). Si bien aumentar la cantidad normal de riego puede mejorar el rendimiento, es necesario conocer los cambios de diferentes volúmenes de riego en la calidad y rendimiento en el cultivo de tomate. A inicios del año 2019, se instaló el experimento para conocer la respuesta del cultivo de tomate (Solanum lycopersicum L.) cv. Katya a diferentes láminas de riego en suelos francos moderadamente alcalinos (8.18) en el valle de Cañete de la costa peruana. Las unidades experimentales fueron distribuidas en un diseño cuadrado latino con cuatro repeticiones. Los tratamientos consistieron en diferentes láminas de riego, los cuales representan una proporción, tomando como base la evapotranspiración del cultivo (150, 125, 100 y 75 % de la ETc). Los resultados indican con mayores volúmenes empleados en la producción de tomate se obtiene plantas con mayores cantidades de flores, biomasa fresca y seca de hojas, tallos y frutos; el número de frutos y los rendimientos totales y comerciales incrementan; se obtuvo una mayor cantidad de frutos de primera con el tratamiento de mayor lámina de riego. La eficiencia del uso del agua indica un buen aprovechamiento del recurso hídrico y justifica el elevado uso de agua en su producción. El diámetro ecuatorial y el peso promedio de fruto fueron aumentado a medida que se incrementó la lámina de riego. El tratamiento con una lámina de riego de 150 % de la ETc presentó las mejores combinaciones de rendimiento y calidad del cultivo de tomate producido en el valle de Cañete.The production of vegetables in our country essentially depends on irrigation; in the case of tomatoes, national production is carried out both in traditional systems (gravity) and in automated systems (drip).
