Este proceso incluyó la evaluación previa a travésde un diagnóstico situacional de la empresa y el fundo para contrastarlo con los requisitos de lanormativa. Mediante un plan de acción elaborado por la empresa se realizaron las acciones de implementación, seguimiento y verificación de los cumplimientos necesarios para lograr la certificación. Inicialmente la empresa fue certificada en la versión 2017 y en el año 2020 se implementó la transición al nuevo programa de certificación de Agricultura sostenible Rainforest Alliance. Todos estos procesos le han permitido a la empresa la adquisición de nuevos conocimientos, reinventarse, optimizar los procesos agrícolas, alinearse a las exigenciasambientales delsector agrícola, reconociendo susresponsabilidades y asumiendo compromisosambientales de acuerdo con la ley nacional vigente. Así mismo, le ha permitido ser más competitiva para acceder a nichos de mercados más exigentes. Actualmente, se tienen grandesexpectativas con el nuevo programa de certificación con la obtención de precios diferenciadosy justos con la producción sostenible. La experiencia en la implementación de esta norma ha permitido proponer estrategias y planes de mejora, para un cultivo en expansión como el granado, desarrollado en una zona como Ica, donde el manejo sostenible de los recursos comoel agua, resultan fundamentales.Rainforest Alliance certification was implemented in a farm dedicated to the production of pomegranate (Punica granatum) in the Ica Valley. This process included a prior evaluation through a situational diagnosis of the company and the farm to compare it with the requirementsof the regulations. Through an action plan prepared by the company, the actions for implementation, monitoring, and verification of compliance necessary to achieve certification were carried out. Initially, the company was certified in the 2017 version and in 2020 the transition to the new Rainforest Alliance Sustainable Agriculture certification program was implemented. All these processes have allowed the company to acquire new knowledge, reinvent itself, optimize agricultural processes, align itself with the environmental demands of the agricultural sector, recognizing its responsibilities and assuming environmental commitments in accordance with current national law. Likewise, it has allowed it to be more competitive to access more demanding market niches. Currently, there are great expectations with the new certification program with the obtaining of differentiated and fair prices with sustainable production.
