Materiales y métodos: se tuvo un enfoque cuantitativo con un diseño no experimental de tipo transversal y un enfoque descriptivo. La población fueron los pacientes adultos mayores con hipertensión arterial atendidos en el C.S. La Ensenada, la muestra fueron 63 pacientes. Se empleó la técnica de encuesta, el instrumento fue un cuestionario de 22 preguntas distribuidas en 4 dimensiones. Resultados: 21 adultos mayores que representan el 33,33% tuvieron edades entre 66 a 70 años. 39 adultos mayores que representan el 61,90% fueron del sexo femenino. El autocuidado fue moderado en 28 pacientes que representan el 44,44%. En la dimensión dieta, 32 pacientes que representan el 50,79% tuvieron autocuidado moderado. En la dimensión ejercicios, 26 pacientes que representan el 41,27% tuvieron autocuidado moderado. En la dimensión consumo de sustancias nocivas, 28 pacientes que representan el 44,44% tuvieron autocuidado moderado. En la dimensión terapéutica, 29 pacientes que representan el 46,03% tuvieron autocuidado moderado. Conclusiones: el nivel de autocuidado en adultos mayores hipertensos atendidos en el C.S La Ensenada, fue en su mayoría medio. |

Materials and methods: we used a quantitative approach with a non-experimental cross-sectional design and a descriptive approach. The population consisted of older adult patients with arterial hypertension treated at the La Ensenada Health Center, and the sample consisted of 63 patients. The survey technique was used; the instrument was a 22-question questionnaire distributed in 4 dimensions. Results: 21 older adults (33.33%) were aged between 66 and 70 years. Thirty-nine older adults (61.90%) were female. Self-care was moderate in 28 patients (44.44%). In the diet dimension, 32 patients representing 50.79% had moderate self-care. In the exercise dimension, 26 patients representing 41.27% had moderate self-care. In the harmful substance use dimension, 28 patients representing 44.44% had moderate self-care. In the therapeutic dimension, 29 patients representing 46.03% had moderate self-care. Conclusions: the level of self-care in hypertensive older adults attended at the C.S.
