description Objetivo: determinar los factores asociados al riesgo de infección del catéter venoso central en pacientes hospitalizados en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos de un hospital nacional de Lima, 2025. Materiales y métodos: el estudio seguirá un enfoque cuantitativo, con diseño no experimental, transversal, correlacional y descriptivo. La muestra se compondrá de 110 historias clínicas de pacientes portadores de CVC, utilizando como instrumento una ficha de recojo de datos. Resultados: los datos serán organizados en una base de Excel y procesados en el programa estadístico SPSS v-26. El análisis descriptivo se realizará mediante frecuencias absolutas y relativas, mientras que el análisis inferencial aplicará la prueba de chi cuadrado de independencia para establecer la asociación entre los factores de riesgo y la infección por CVC. Conclusión: se espera determinar el grado de asociación de los factores de riesgo extrínsecos e intrínsecos con la presencia de infección por CVC en pacientes hospitalizados en la UCI, aportando evidencia científica para la mejora de la seguridad del paciente crítico.

Materials and methods: the study will follow a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional, correlational, and descriptive design. The sample will consist of 110 medical records of patients with CVCs, selected using inclusion and exclusion criteria, using a data collection form as an instrument. Results: the data will be organized in an Excel database and processed using the statistical program SPSS v-26. Descriptive analysis will be performed using absolute and relative frequencies, while inferential analysis will apply the chi-square test of independence to establish the association between risk factors and CVC infection.
