Métodos: este estudio revisa investigaciones sobre prácticas de almacenamiento de medicamentos y factores asociados, como condiciones ambientales y nivel de conocimiento. Resultados: el 75.6% de los hogares almacena medicamentos de manera inadecuada, el 65% no los etiquetados correctamente, y más del 50% contiene medicamentos vencidos, aumentando el riesgo de intoxicaciones. El 65,2% desconoce métodos de seguridad de almacenamiento. En Honduras, el 44% de los estantes de almacenes de salud están deteriorados. Además, entre el 17-26% de los hogares guardan medicamentos en baños o cocinas, el 70.9% para uso futuro y el 81% en la alcoba. Conclusión: el almacenamiento incorrecto de medicamentos en los hogares es un problema generalizado que pone en riesgo la salud pública. La implementación de métodos rigurosos y la educación en prácticas seguras podrían reducir significativamente estos riesgos, promoviendo entornos más seguros y mejorando el bienestar general.

The specific situation in different regions of the world is mentioned, where lack of knowledge and inadequate storage conditions contribute to poor medication management. Methods: focusing on recent research that evaluates storage practices and the factors that influence them, such as environmental conditions and people's knowledge on the subject. Results: the following results were found: 65% of households do not properly label their medications, 75.6% store medications inadequately. Another significant risk is the presence of expired medications, reported by more than 50% of households, which can result in poisonings. 65.2% of participants are unaware of safe storage methods, 58% of households store medications, 44% of shelves were in poor condition in a health facility warehouse in Honduras, 17-26% of households store medications in bathrooms and kitchens, 70.9% of households store medications for future use, and 81% of households store medications in the bedroom. Conclusion: most households store medications, unaware that this can lead to risks due to incorrect practices.
