El instrumento fue la escala de Estrés de Enfermería (The Nursing Stress Scale o NSS), que presenta 34 ítems con tres dimensiones (físico, psicológico y social). Resultados: el 43.3% de los participantes fue masculino y el 56,7% femenino. El nivel de estrés en el 70% (N=42) es medio, el 15% (N=9) bajo y otro 15% (N=9) alto. En la dimensión física el 78,3% (N=47) nivel medio, el 11,7 % (N=7) bajo y 10% (N=6) alto; en la dimensión psicológica el 68,3% (N=41) medio, 20,0% (N=12) bajo, y el 11,7 %(N=7) alto; en la dimensión social el 50,0% (N=30) medio, 46,7% (N=28) bajo y el 3,3% (N=2) alto. Conclusiones: el nivel de estrés del personal de enfermería en el servicio de emergencia del hospital de salud mental y psiquiatría Hermilio Valdizán fue mayormente medio, luego bajo y alto.

The census sample was 60 nursing professionals from the emergency service of the Hermilio Valdizán mental health and psychiatry hospital. The instrument was the Nursing Stress Scale (The Nursing Stress Scale or NSS), which has 34 items with three dimensions (physical, psychological and social). Results: 43.3% of the participants were male and 56.7% female. The stress level in 70% (N=42) is medium, 15% (N=9) low and another 15% (N=9) high.
