description Objetivo: evaluar el efecto cicatrizante de un gel elaborado con extracto hidroalcohólico de Piper aduncum L. (matico) y aceite esencial de Curcuma longa L. (cúrcuma) en ratones albinos. Materiales y métodos: se realizó un estudio experimental multifactorial con enfoque cuantitativo. Se obtuvo el extracto de Piper aduncum L. por maceración y se formuló un gel con distintas concentraciones de Piper aduncum L. y Curcuma longa L. La actividad cicatrizante se evaluó midiendo la reducción del área de la herida y mediante ANOVA. Resultados: los geles favorecieron la cicatrización en los primeros días (p < 0.05), con una mejoría significativa desde el cuarto día. Sin embargo, el proceso se estabilizó posteriormente, indicando que su efecto no se mantiene de manera constante. Además, Curcuma longa L. atenuó el impacto positivo de Piper aduncum L. Conclusiones: Piper aduncum L. mostró un efecto clave en la cicatrización, mientras que Curcuma longa L., en las concentraciones evaluadas, pudo reducir su eficacia. Se recomienda optimizar la formulación y evaluar su aplicación en heridas crónicas. También es necesario un análisis de costos para determinar su viabilidad frente a tratamientos comerciales.

(matico) and essential oil of Curcuma longa L. (turmeric) in albino mice. Materials and methods: a multifactorial experimental study with quantitative approach was performed. Piper aduncum L. extract was obtained by maceration and a gel was formulated with different concentrations of Piper aduncum L. and Curcuma longa L. Healing activity was evaluated by measuring wound area reduction and by ANOVA. Results: the gels favored healing in the first days (p < 0.05), with a significant improvement from the fourth day. However, the process stabilized later, indicating that its effect is not maintained constantly. In addition, Curcuma longa L. attenuated the positive impact of Piper aduncum L. Conclusions: Piper aduncum L. showed a key effect on healing, while Curcuma longa L., at the concentrations evaluated, was able to reduce its efficacy. It is recommended to optimize the formulation and evaluate its application in chronic wounds.
