description El presente trabajo de investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar la prevalencia de uso de antibióticos en pacientes que son atendidos en el Hospital Distrital Jerusalén, La Esperanza – Trujillo. Julio – Octubre 2018, el trabajo de investigación fue de tipo descriptivo, de corte transversal de nivel cuantitativo de diseño no experimental. Se aplicó un cuestionario de preguntas a una muestra de 250 a pacientes mayores de 18 años de diferentes sexos (98hombres y 132 mujeres). Según los patrones de uso, se determinó que el 36.5% de pacientes consumen antibióticos para el tratamiento de infecciones respiratorias, la forma farmacéutica más utilizada fueron las tabletas con un 59.6% y el antibiótico más utilizado corresponde a la amoxicilina con el 42.6, la prevalencia puntual de uso de antibióticos es de 58.7%, valor que se considera útil como precedente para posteriores estudios.
