The present article aims to systematize the origin and evaluation of emotional education, for this a synthesis and analysis of different theories of emotional intelligence was developed considering the authors Salovey and Mayer, Bar-On, Goleman, Bisquerra and Fernández-Berrocal and Extremera. This allowed us to know the evolution and current state of emotional intelligence theories and their link and applicability in the educational field. For this, we worked with the documentary research methodology following the hermeneutical method.En la actualidad la educación emocional se ha convertido en uno de los grandes desafíos de la escuela del siglo XXI, ya que esta debe educar a los estudiantes tanto en lo académico como en lo emocional. La educación emocional tiene sus orígenes en las diferentes teorías de inteligencia emocional. El presente artículo tiene como objetivo sistematizar el origen y la evaluación de la educación emocional, para ello se desarrolló una síntesis y análisis de diferentes teorías de inteligencia emocional considerando los autores Salovey y Mayer, Bar-On, Goleman, Bisquerra y Fernández-Berrocal y Extremera. Lo que permitió conocer la evolución y el estado actual de las teorías de inteligencia emocional y su vinculación   y aplicabilidad en el ámbito educativo.
