description El aislamiento del campo operatorio es una técnica muy antigua creada y usada por primera vez en 1864 por el doctor Sanford Barnun, obteniendo grandes beneficios, fue reconocido por la Asociación Dental Americana y denominado como “The rubber dam”, durante los años la técnica fue mejorando y se propusieron diferentes aditamentos creados por las más reconocidas compañías dentales como SS White, uno de los partícipes de esta técnica fue el doctor Green Black a partir de ahí la técnica fue muy reconocida y usada en todo el mundo, consiste en una maniobra odontológica que busca garantizar las condiciones propicias para la intervención en los tejidos duros, el aislamiento permite mantener un campo operatorio limpio, seco y libre de contaminación.
