La Diabetes tipo 2 es un desorden metabólico crónico, caracterizado por hiperglucemia con alteraciones del metabolismo de los carbohidratos, grasas y proteínas, resultante de la disminución de la secreción y/o acción de la insulina. Su curso es progresivo, y se acompaña de lesiones micro retina, riñón, nervios y macro vasculares cerebro, corazón, miembros inferiores.
