description La paraplejía espástica es una de las mayores complicaciones de una lesión en la médula espinal a causa de algún traumatismo o arma de fuego, esto produce un daño no sólo en la columna vertebral sino también en las extremidades inferiores afectando el sistema nervioso y alterando las funciones: motoras, sensitivas y autónomas del cuerpo humano ya que la medula espinal recorre el agujero vertebral que inicia desde el bulbo raquídeo hacia la altura de la primera o segunda vértebra lumbar.
