Resultados: Se determino que 23.7% de los pacientes con Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2 tiene un nivel de autoestima alto, el 11.5% medio y el 64.7% bajo. Por su parte 30.9% de los pacientes presentó adherencia al tratamiento, mientras que el 69.1% no presentó adherencia. Se evidenció asociación significativa entre el nivel de autoestima y la adherencia al tratamiento (p-valor = 0.000). Además, se encontró asociación significativa entre el sexo y nivel de autoestima (p-valor de 0.005) y asociación entre el grado de instrucción con la adherencia al tratamiento (p- valor = 0.016). Conclusiones: Se demostró que existe asociación significativa entre el nivel autoestima y la adherencia al tratamiento de los pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 en los pacientes atendidos en el puesto de salud Magdalena Nueva de Chimbote.
