La metodología fue tipo básica, enfoque cualitativo, diseño fenomenológico. Las técnicas de recolección de datos fueron entrevista y análisis documental y el instrumento fue una guía de entrevista validada por expertos. Los participantes fueron 7 profesionales especialistas en trata de personas, derecho penal y migratorio. Los resultados mostraron que la trata de migrantes vulnera derechos fundamentales como la libertad, la dignidad y la integridad física y emocional de las víctimas, siendo la pobreza y la falta de educación elementos determinantes. Asimismo, se demostró la ineficacia en la aplicación de la normativa vigente y la necesidad de fortalecer los controles fronterizos y la cooperación internacional. Se concluyó que, la trata de migrantes para explotación sexual constituye un problema social y jurídico que requiere acciones coordinadas entre el Estado, sociedad civil y organismos internacionales para proteger a las víctimas y desmantelar las redes de tratantes que perpetúan esta forma de esclavitud moderna.
