Es de tipo básica, diseño no experimental y nivel descriptivo. Además, contó con una muestra de 384 ciudadanos adultos entre 18 y 55 años que residen en el distrito de Ate. Para el desarrollo, se elaboró el cuestionario de actitudes hacia la crueldad y el maltrato animal para la investigación, con el cual se obtuvo como resultado una validez de 0.92 y confiabilidad de 0.829 en el alfa de Cronbach. Se obtuvo como resultado que un 94 % de la población tiene una actitud en contra, 5,7 % mantiene una actitud indiferente y el 0,3 % presenta una actitud a favor hacia la crueldad y el maltrato animal. Se concluye, que la mayoría de las personas respeta y preserva la vida de los animales; sin embargo, hay quienes tienen una predisposición negativa hacia ellos.
