Muchas de ellas vienen de Alaska, Canadá y Estados Unidos hasta nuestro territorio e incluso más al sur, hasta la Patagonia durante el verano austral (diciembre - marzo) para evitar el invierno boreal que los puede privar de sitios de alimentación y regresan al hemisferio norte a anidar. Proteger los espacios a donde llegan en nuestro país, es fundamental para asegurar su supervivencia.
