description El presente trabajo académico tuvo como objetivo estudiar el vínculo relacional que la familia deje en orfandad y el proceso de tratamiento y recuperación para ancianos diagnosticados con diabetes Mellitus en el Policlínico Chiclayo Oeste, durante el año 2024. Metodológicamente se ha utilizado el enfoque cualitativo, y se ha aplicado entrevistas semi estructuradas a seis pacientes, encontrándose que el apoyo familiar es crucial para la estabilidad emocional, la adherencia al tratamiento y la calidad de vida de los adultos mayores, además los hallazgos revelan que el abandono emocional y económico afecta negativamente el bienestar de los pacientes, destacando la necesidad de implementar intervenciones de terapia familiar sistémica y desarrollar políticas públicas que brinden apoyo económico y emocional a esta población vulnerable.
