We will analyze the measures used by both the viceregal government and the Liberation Army between 1820 and 1822 to solve logistical problems and, especially, to stop desertions. Moreover, the study will be emphasized on the possible reasons why this situation occurred. Likewise, the measures and sanctions taken against these deserters and the effects that this had on the morale of each army will be explained.Las noticias de la proximidad de la Expedición Libertadora y la posterior presencia del ejército de José de San Martín en el virreinato del Perú generaron una serie de deserciones dentro del ejército realista, tanto entre los altos mandos como en la tropa del común. En ese sentido, se analizarán las medidas empleadas tanto por el gobierno virreinal como por el Ejército Libertador entre 1820 y 1822 para solventar los problemas logísticos y, especialmente, frenar las deserciones. Sobre esto último, se enfatizará el estudio sobre los posibles motivos por los cuales se produjo esta situación.
