| Sumario: | The paper examines the origin and conception of antitrust policies in Peru, highlighting the historical context, theoretical principles, motivations, values and interests that explain their adoption since the end of 1991. As a comparative reference, the paper delves into the origin and controversies on antitrust in the U.S. and post-war Germany. In contrast to these experiences, we show that competition rules in Peru were adopted without further discussion of their nature and objectives, ignoring the serious consequences of an excessive concentration of economic power on democracy and social order. |
