Sin embargo, en el país todavía hay una escasez de investigaciones relacionadas con este tema, lo que afectaría de manera desfavorable la calidad de vida de los pacientes con TEA. Objetivo: Determinar el nivel de conocimiento de prevención en salud bucal en padres de pacientes con trastorno del espectro autista en un Centro Dental Docente, Lima- Perú, 2025. Materiales y métodos: Estudio de tipo transversal. La población del estudio estará constituida por los padres de pacientes con diagnóstico de TEA, que reciban atención en el Centro Dental Docente de la Facultad de Estomatología de la Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia durante el año 2025, y que reúnan los criterios de inclusión y exclusión previamente establecidos. La variable principal será el nivel de conocimientos en prevención en salud bucal, evaluado mediante un cuestionario validado. Las variables secundarias fueron: Edad, género, estado civil, nivel de instrucción, actividad ocupacional y lugar de procedencia. Se presentará un análisis descriptivo, bivariado con la prueba de chi2 y multivariado con la prueba de regresión logística. Conclusiones: Se concluye que el nivel de conocimiento de los padres respecto a la prevención en salud bucal en pacientes con TEA constituye un factor clave para optimizar su bienestar y reducir las complicaciones odontológicas asociadas. Sin embargo, los hallazgos indican que el conocimiento general sobre este tema permanece limitado, lo que sugiere que los padres de estos pacientes probablemente enfrenten dificultades en este ámbito. Se destaca la necesidad de implementar programas que mejoren las competencias parentales en salud bucal.

The behaviors associated with this disorder can complicate the maintenance of adequate oral health. Therefore, it is essential that parents have access to accurate information on dental prevention. However, in the country, there is still a lack of research related to this topic, which could negatively impact the quality of life of patients with ASD. Objective: To determine the level of knowledge regarding oral health prevention among parents of patients with Autism Spectrum Disorder at a Dental Teaching Center in Lima, Peru, in 2025. Materials and Methods: This will be a cross-sectional study. The study population will consist of parents of patients diagnosed with ASD who receive care at the Dental Teaching Center of the School of Stomatology at the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia during the year 2025, and who meet the previously established inclusion and exclusion criteria. The main variable will be the level of knowledge regarding oral health prevention, assessed through a validated questionnaire. Secondary variables will include: age, gender, marital status, educational level,occupational activity, and place of origin. A descriptive analysis will be presented, along with a bivariate analysis using the chi-square test, and a multivariate analysis using logistic regression. Conclusions: It is concluded that the level of knowledge among parents regarding oral health prevention in patients with ASD is a key factorin optimizing their well-being and mitigating associated dental complications. However, findings indicate that overall knowledge on this topic remains limited, suggesting that the parents of these patients are likely to face challenges in this area.
