Sumario:The purpose of the following investigation had as objective to determine the correlation between performance in cognitive reading processes and the reading comprehension level in boys and girls of third grade of primary education at a private school in Metropolitan Lima. The sample consisted of 66 students, whose ages ranged between 8 and 9 years, belonging to a private school in Lima. It was used a descriptive-correlational design and a non-probabilistic type of sampling. The instruments used were the Cognitive Assessment Battery for Reading and Writing (BECOLE Elementary Level) and the Linguistic Complexity Reading Comprehension Test for the third grade of primary form A (CLP 3 - A). The result was a positive, moderately intense and statistically significant relationship was found between performance in cognitive reading processes and the level of reading comprehension in boys and girls of third grade of primary education at a private school in Metropolitan Lima.
