Sumario:Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of bleaching with 10% carbamide peroxide according to application time. Materials and methods: 48 freshly extracted premolars were evaluated, which were exposed to 10% carbamide peroxide for 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours, 4 hours, 6 hours and 8 hours daily (n = 8). The color was evaluated with a Vita Easyshade Advance 4.0 spectrophotometer (Vita Zahnfabrik, Germany) at 0, 7, 14 and 21 days. The ΔE values were analyzed with the Wilcoxon test. Results: The lowest value of ΔE was found at 1h daily (8.40, 8.75 and 6.83 at 7, 14 and 21 days respectively). The highest ΔE value was at 2h with 14.63 at 7 days, and at 6 hours with 15.82 and 12.97 on days 14 and 21 respectively. On the other hand, the ΔE at 1h had a statistically significant difference with 2h, 3h, 4h, 6h and 8h at 14 and 21 days (p <0.05). However, there were no significant differences when compared 2h, 3h, 4h, 6h and 8h at 14 and 21 days (p> 0.05) Conclusion: Bleaching with PC 10% was so effective when you apply 2 hours a day for 14 days that when you apply 8 hours daily for 14 days.
