Notwithstanding this, it should be specified that the power generation activities are governed by their owEl presente artículo trata sobre el aprovechamiento de los recursos geotérmicos como una nueva fuente energética, la cual ha demostrado factibilidad técnica y económica.En nuestro país existe una regulación insipiente, que en muchos casos por ausencia de regulación y especialistas en la materia prolonga la obtención de las autorizaciones o las concesiones para el aprovechamiento de los recursos geotérmicos del suelo y subsuelo en el territorio nacional.Conforme al actual sistema legal peruano, las autorizaciones son otorgadas por un plazo de tres (3) años, pero pueden prorrogarse por un plazo de dos (2) años; en el caso de las concesiones son otorgadas por un plazo de treinta (30) años y pueden prorrogarse por diez (10) años.En caso los fines sean de generación eléctrica, el contrato se extenderá automáticamente por el mismo plazo del contrato.
