Descripción
Sumario:The protection of cultural property in the event of armed conflict is an issue that has gained particular relevance in recent years due to the wars in the Middle East and recent armed conflicts. Our country’s history is no exception, so this paper examines one of the most significant armed conflicts in the history of Peru in general, the “War of the Pacific,” from the perspective of International Humanitarian Law. This paper identifies the existing international instruments related to the protection of movable cultural property in the event of armed conflict, especially those in force during the 19th century, and analyzes whether these conventions and declarations were respected by the parties to the conflict.
