From his historical research in notary archives Piketty could see better multiple parallels also-and differences between the current ownership structure, or what he calls La Belle Epoque and this shared by the companies in early twenty-first century phenomenon. The collection of materials and overall project outcomes are in the database: World Top Incomes Database, available historical data and technical information for a thorough reading of the resultsLo que se aborda en el presente artículo es la realización de un ejercicio historiográfico semejante a los esfuerzos realizados por Tocqueville a mediados del siglo XIX para comprender los efectos de la Revolución francesa. Piketty descubre que en períodos de tiempo largos el análisis de las riquezas derivadas del capital presenta dimensiones inéditas. Desde su investigación historiográfica en archivos notariales Piketty pudo ver mejor los múltiples paralelismos -y también las diferencias entre la estructura de la propiedad vigente, o lo que llama La Belle Époque y este fenómeno compartido por las sociedades a principios del siglo XXI.
