It also exposes four of his intellectual predilections that are reflected in different books and interviews: humanities and law, society, the university and the relationship between the university and society, problems and solutions. En este texto se hace una revisión de la formación intelectual de Iván Rodríguez Chávez y cómo esta termina dando forma a su pensamiento en torno a la relación entre las humanidades, el derecho y la universidad como base fundamental para incentivar el peruanismo. Para ello, se inicia dando cuenta de sus maestros, como José Russo Delgado, Estuardo Núñez Hague, Luis Alberto Sánchez, entre otros, quienes le inculcaron los saberes y las prácticas académicas que él implementaría en su ejercicio pedagógico como educador y luego como rector de la Universidad Ricardo Palma. Asimismo, se exponen cuatro de sus predilecciones intelectuales que se encuentran plasmadas en diferentes libros y entrevistas: las humanidades y el derecho, la sociedad, la universidad y la relación entre la universidad en la sociedad, los problemas y las soluciones.
