Necropsy of the specimen showed the presence of whitish plastic fi laments (nylon) (≈ 0.5 mm in diameter) intermixed with individuals of Mugil cephalus Linnaeus, 1758. Previous documentation in research/dissemination articles on ingestion of plastic anthropic macro-waste in this species in Peru has not been reported, nor in articles of international review. With this new report, 42.85% (n = 6) of the otarid species around the world have ingested plastic macro-waste.Los registros que documentan la ingesta de desechos antrópicos plásticos en mamíferos marinos son casi inexistentes en el Pacífi co Oriental. En el presente trabajo se reporta la ingesta de una red plástica por parte del lobo chusco sudamericano Otaria fl avescens (Shaw, 1800) en la Playa “San Pedro”, Lurín, Lima, Perú. La necropsia del ejemplar evidenció presencia de fi lamentos de plástico (nailon) de color blanquecino (≈ 0,5 mm de diámetro) entremezclados con individuos de Mugil cephalus Linnaeus, 1758. La documentación previa en artículos de investigación/divulgación sobre ingestión de macrodesechos antrópicos plásticos en esta especie en el Perú no ha sido reportada, asimismo en artículos de revisión internacional.
