This paper is an analysis of the basic regularities that took place since the early 1990s of the last century in terms of educational research in Latin America.El presente artículo realiza un análisis de lo ocurrido respecto a las investigaciones educativas en América Latina y el Caribe, desde la década de los 90 a la fecha. Se tiene en cuenta lo ocurrido en el campo educacional en ese período, así como el papel jugado por la Educación Superior en la ejecución de este tipo de investigaciones. Por último se hace referencia a las instituciones que fundamentalmente desarrollan investigaciones educativas y las líneas de investigación a la que se dedican los recursos financieros.
