This article analyzes how two inmigrants, who arrived to Peru seeking to participate in the alpaca fiber trade, wereable to consolidate themselves in the trade field, and to create later two important economic groups which have built vertically integrated textile industries employing different growth strategies.La expansión de la industria textil inglesa luego de la segunda revolución industrial genera una gran demanda de materia prima, demanda que permite que la región sur andina de nuestro país se articule con el mercado internacional vía la exportación de fibra de alpaca.
