Finally, it presents the threats and risks that this sector will face in the next century. It concludes that the essential condition to succeed consists in having a systematic understanding of the agrarian activities.Este trabajo presenta las condiciones en las que se desarrolla la actividad agrícola peruana y dentro de las cuales ésta deberá alcanzar niveles de competitividad internacional. Asimismo analiza las numerosas condiciones históricas -de índole tanto socioeconómica como legal e institucional- que han dificultado la formación de un espíritu empresarial auténticamente moderno en el agro peruano. Finalmente, se listan los riesgos y desafíos que enfrentará el sector agrícola en el año 2000.
