In the context of socioenvironmental conflicts, mining has been questioned which pressured subnational states to introduce institutional changes. The analysis focus on the repertoires of collective action of local populations, the construction of networks of actors for the visibility of the problem, as well as the moral and cognitive factors that influenced the problematization of mining in Argentina.Este artículo analiza la problematización de la minería en Argentina y su impacto en la institucionalidad del sector minero. A partir de un abordaje cualitativo, se estudian dos estados subnacionales que promueven la minería, las provincias de Jujuy y de San Juan. Se evidencia que, en el contexto de conflictos socioambientales, la minería fue socialmente problematizada, lo cual presionó a los estados subnacionales a introducir cambios institucionales.
