Sumario:Urbanization has driven economic development and improved quality of life, but it has also generated environmental problems such as pollution and inadequate water management. This article explores the landscape of the northern coastal desert of Peru and the water challenges it faces, particularly in Piura, one of the regions most affected by water scarcity. Aiming to propose solutions for integrated and sustainable water management, this work, based on research conducted with architecture students from the University of Piura, analyzes the implementation of concepts such as Ecological Infrastructure (EI), Water-Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD), and Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) in the city’s public spaces. These strategies seek to overcome recurring water risks, maximize efficient water use, and improve the management of wastewater, stormwater, and groundwater, contributing to human health and well-being. A water-sensitive proposal can be key to transforming the city into a sustainable and resilient space.
