description Introduction: Generative artificial intelligence, such as ChatGPT, has transformed higher education by facilitating autonomous learning and content creation, while also posing challenges in ethics, assessment, and academic integrity. Objective: This research aims to identify the theoretical models, analyzed factors, research methods, sampling approaches, and data analysis techniques used in studies on ChatGPT in higher education. Method: A systematic literature review following the PRISMA protocol was conducted using ScienceDirect, PubMed, and EBSCO (September 2023 – September 2024); quality criteria from JBI and those proposed by Ijaz and Yadegaridehkordi (2024) were applied, resulting in the selection of 27 studies, mostly from Asia. Results: The findings indicate a predominance of quantitative approaches based on surveys and statistical analyses, with Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) as the most frequent techniques, while convenience sampling was the most commonly used method. Discussion: Perceived usefulness, social influence, and behavioral intention emerged as key factors in its adoption; therefore, it is recommended to expand research to other regions and to establish policies that ensure its responsible use in education.

Objetivo: En la investigación se propone identificar modelos teóricos, factores analizados, métodos de investigación, enfoques de muestreo y técnicas de análisis en estudios sobre ChatGPT en educación superior. Método: Se realizó una revisión sistemática de literatura (PRISMA) en ScienceDirect, PubMed y EBSCO (septiembre 2023 - septiembre 2024), se aplicaron criterios de calidad del JBI, y de Ijaz y Yadegaridehkordi (2024). Se seleccionaron 27 estudios, principalmente provenientes de Asia. Objetivo: A pesquisa propõe identificar modelos teóricos, fatores analisados, métodos de pesquisa, abordagens de amostragem e técnicas de análise em estudos sobre o ChatGPT no ensino superior. Método: Foi realizada uma revisão sistemática da literatura (PRISMA) nas bases ScienceDirect, PubMed e EBSCO (setembro de 2023 - setembro de 2024), aplicando-se os critérios de qualidade do JBI e de Ijaz e Yadegaridehkordi (2024). Foram selecionados 27 estudos, provenientes principalmente da Ásia. Resultados: Nos resultados, predominou a abordagem quantitativa baseada em inquéritos e análises estatísticas, destacando-se as técnicas SEM e CFA. A amostragem por conveniência foi a mais frequente. Discussão: A utilidade percebida, a influência social e a intenção comportamental emergiram como fatores-chave na sua adoção.
