description There is a growing demand for increasingly biocompatible materials, especially for pulp therapies in children. In today's market, biomaterials such as mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and Biodentine have demonstrated high bioactive properties. However, no material has yet been identified that optimally meets all clinical requirements, due to factors such as biocompatibility, pulp repair potential, among others. The objective of this literature review was to determine the clinical and radiographic success rate of bioactive materials in pulpotomies, compared to the use of conventional materials. Additionally, the preferred final restorative material used after the application of the bioactive material was identified. PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, Virtual Health Library, EBSCOHost, and ProQuest databases were used. The search included publications up to May 25, 2024, following PRISMA guidelines. Out of a total of 857 articles identified, twelve met the inclusion criteria and were selected for analysis. Subsequently, these studies underwent a control review to evaluate the results of pulp treatment: eleven were considered at the first year of follow-up and only one at the second year. The use of bioactive materials, such as Biodentine and calcium silicate cements, represents a significant advance in dentistry. These materials are easy to handle, set faster, and have a lower risk of discoloration than MTA.

En el mercado actual, biomateriales como el agregado de trióxido mineral (MTA) y el Biodentine han demostrado altas propiedades de bioactividad. No obstante, aún no se ha identificado un material que cumpla de manera óptima con todos los requerimientos clínicos, debido a factores como la biocompatibilidad, el potencial de reparación pulpar, entre otros. La presente revisión de literatura tuvo como objetivo determinar la tasa de éxito clínico y radiográfico de los materiales bioactivos en pulpotomías, en comparación con el uso de materiales convencionales. Asimismo, se identificó la preferencia del material de restauración final, postutilización del material bioactivo. Se utilizaron las bases de datos PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, Biblioteca Virtual de la Salud, EBSCOHost y ProQuest. La búsqueda abarcó publicaciones hasta el 25 de mayo de 2024, teniendo en cuenta las pautas PRISMA. De un total de 857 artículos identificados, doce cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión y fueron seleccionados para el análisis. Posteriormente, estos estudios fueron sometidos a una revisión de control para evaluar los resultados del tratamiento pulpar: once fueron considerados al primer año de seguimiento y solo uno al segundo año. El uso de materiales bioactivos, como el Biodentine y los cementos de silicato de calcio, representa un avance destacado en odontología. Estos materiales son fáciles de manejar, fraguan más rápido y tienen menor riesgo de decoloración que el MTA.Durante décadas, os antagonistas da vitamina K, como a varfarina, foram a terapia anticoagulante padrão ouro, apesar das dificuldades associadas ao seu manejo clínico. Em contraste, os anticoagulantes orais de ação direta (DOAC) oferecem menos complicações e vantagens terapêuticas. Eles são divididos em inibidores de trombina (dabigatran) e inibidores do fator Xa (rivaroxaban, apixaban, edoxaban). Aproximadamente 10% das pessoas anticoaguladas precisarão de cirurgia, inclusive cirurgia oral. Nesse contexto, o objetivo desta revisão foi atualizar o manejo cirúrgico oral em pacientes anticoagulados e familiarizar os dentistas com os protocolos em usuários de varfarina e DOAC. A interrupção da terapia anticoagulante envolve riscos significativos e até mesmo fatais, superando em muitos casos os benefícios da redução do sangramento em cirurgia bucal.
