Experimental explanatory research level of quasi-experimental design; The sample consisted of 28 students each from the control and experimental group, the data were collected through observation techniques, written test and the interview; The Student's t test was applied for independent samples with a confidence level of 95%. Concluding that the game of chess in unconventional spaces significantly influences the development of mathematical skills in university students; The game of chess significantly improved the action of memory, concentration, comprehension, logical thinking, imagination, creativity, agility in mathematical operations, autonomy and personal motivation.El propósito de la presente investigación fue analizar las infuencias del juego de ajedrez en espacios no convencionales en el desarrollo de las habilidades matemáticas de los estudiantes de la serie 100 de la Escuela Profesional de Economía de la Universidad Nacional de San Cristóbal de Huamanga. Nivel de investigación explicativa experimental de diseño cuasiexperimental; la muestra constituyó 28 estudiantes cada uno del grupo control y experimental, los datos fueron recolectados a través de técnicas de observación, prueba escrita y la entrevista; se aplicó la prueba de T de Student para muestras independiente con un nivel de confianza al 95%.
