The work of Bartolomé de las Casas, who, moved by a judgment of wisdom Ecclesiastes-book of the Old Testament that says "he who offers sacrifice of the property of the poor is like the one slaughters a child before It is well known the father ... "- donated their property in an act of humanitarian release.La UNMSM se fundó poco tiempo después del inicio de la conquista del Perú, en un entorno caracterizado por la irrefrenable ambición de riqueza de los conquistadores y de los encomenderos, acompañada de explotación, maltrato y muerte inmisericorde de los nativos herederos del Imperio Incaico que, por su acendrado tinte inhumano, movió a un grupo de religiosos a denunciar estos hechos y a elevar el estado cultural de españoles, criollos, mestizos e indios.
