Results showed that 23% of the quarters and 26.8% of the animals were found with subclinical mastitis. The two most frequent morphologies were the smooth ring sphincter (63%) and the round end nipple (74%), in both cases associated with negative CMT (p<0.0001). Besides, 1.83% of the mammary quarters were not functional.El estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar la frecuencia de mastitis subclínica y su asociación con la forma de la punta y el esfínter del pezón en vacas Holstein. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo en tres lecherías del norte de Antioquia, Colombia. Se caracterizó la punta y el esfínter del pezón de 924 cuartos mamarios (231 animales) y se determinó la presencia de mastitis subclínica por medio de la prueba de California Mastitis Test (CMT). Se encontró el 23% de los cuartos y el 26.8% de los animales con mastitis subclínica. Las dos morfologías de mayor frecuencia fueron el esfínter de anillo liso (63%) y el pezón con extremo redondo (74%), en ambos casos asociados de CMT negativo (p<0.0001).
