In total, 120 chickens of both sexes from 84 to 112 days of age were assigned to six treatments (five repetitions per treatment and four birds per repetition), under factorial arrangement with two factors: sex (males and females) and sources of carotenoids (control, marigold and turmeric). All birds received the same concentrated feed, and the differences were the sources of carotenoids. Marigold flower and turmeric rhizome did not improve the productive performance of chickens, nor did they generate adverse effects on growth. Turmeric produced a greater reddish hue in the carcass than marigold; however, the marigold flower caused greater yellowing of the breast skin. Turmeric rhizome reduced the accumulation of abdominal fat in the carcass, with lower liver mass in relation to the bird’s body weight.El objetivo del estudio fue determinar el efecto de la flor de marigold (Tagetes erecta) y el rizoma de cúrcuma (Curcuma longa) como fuentes de carotenoides sobre el desempeño productivo del pollo doble propósito y características de carcasa. Se trabajó con 120 pollos de ambos sexos desde 84 hasta 112 días de edad, asignados a seis tratamientos (cinco repeticiones por tratamiento y cuatro aves por repetición), bajo arreglo factorial, con dos factores: sexo (machos y hembras) y fuentes de carotenoides (control, marigold y cúrcuma). Todos los pollos recibieron el mismo alimento concentrado, variando las fuentes de carotenoides. La flor de marigold y el rizoma de cúrcuma no mejoraron el rendimiento productivo de los pollos ni generaron efectos adversos en el crecimiento. La cúrcuma produjo mayor tonalidad rojiza en la carcasa que el marigold; sin embargo, la flor de marigold provocó mayor amarillamiento de la piel de pechuga.
