In addition to exposing the main objectives, activities and roles according to the work plan for the 2002-2003 period of the Environment and Ecology Commission. Finally, with the topic of legislation as a tool to promote the rational and sustainable use of natural resources within the framework of Peru's environmental strategy. Sustainable development is a concept that has been developing in recent decades. It implies the integrated management of natural resources through the application of efficient policies that allow a balance between development and conservation taking into account the needs of present and future generations.En este trabajo presentaré el concepto de desarrollo sostenible y los lineamientos que deben seguirse para lograrlo, las funciones del Estado, la función legislativa del Congreso de la República así como las funciones de las Comisiones de Trabajo. Ademas de exponer los principales objetivos, actividades y los roles según el plan de trabajo para el periodo 2002-2003 de la Comisión de Ambiente y Ecología. Finalmente, con el tema de la legislación como herramienta para promover el uso racional y sostenible de los recursos naturales dentro del marco de la estrategia ambiental del Perú. El desarrollo sostenible es un concepto que se ha venido desarrollando en las últimas décadas.
