This study also provides an insight into the appraisal process of the Lima painters, their criteria and estimates of the artistic value of the work.Este artículo estudia el lienzo de san Gregorio Nacianceno, firmado por el pintor flamenco Erasmus Quellinus II, que tuvo la iglesia de los jesuitas de Cusco antes de la expulsión del virreinato peruano en 1767. La documentación revisada ha permitido seguir la obra desde su llegada hasta la iglesia de la compañía cusqueña, y sus posteriores sucesos hasta su traslado a Lima en 1788.
